Every fall somebody asks which ramps are still open, so I'm putting what I know in one place. I haven't been out this week, so if you've been recently and something has changed, please correct me.
The two close ones are Lake Fayetteville and Lake Sequoyah. Both are city lakes, small and quiet, and good for a johnboat or a kayak. Last I heard both still have a ramp and a lot, but the lots aren't big. On a pretty Saturday they fill up fast, and a truck with a trailer can get boxed in. Go early. The motor rules on the little lakes are stricter than on Beaver, so check the city parks page before you assume you can run a gas motor. Lake Wedington out west is another smaller option, though I haven't been in a while.
Beaver Lake is the big one and it's mostly Corps of Engineers water. Over the years we've used Lost Bridge, War Eagle and Hickory Creek, and all of them had decent parking for trucks and trailers. Some Corps sites have a day-use fee box. I don't remember the current amount, so bring something to pay with. The ramps usually stay open through the cold months, but the restrooms, water and campground loops often get shut off after the season. Don't count on a bathroom in November.
Two things I always check before I go:
1. Lake level. When the water is down, a ramp can end well short of the water and it gets steep and slick at the bottom. When it's up high after a big rain, the lower lot can be wet or closed.
2. Debris and wind. After a storm come through, logs and limbs wash down and float just under the surface. Wind on open water in the fall can get ugly quick, and I've watched plenty of people get caught out. I keep an eye on the forecast like it's a hobby, and I'd rather skip a day than fight a whitecap.
For current closures, call the Corps office at Beaver Lake or check their page. They'd know before any of us do.
One unrelated tip: I picked up my husband's best tackle box at a yard sale, so keep an eye out this spring if you're wanting gear.
Hope this helps
