Hoping somebody out that way knows. We went to the Elkins Christmas parade a couple years back and the kids loved it. Fire trucks, a bunch of tractors, somebody's mule in a Santa hat, the whole small-town deal. I wanted to put it on the calendar this year but I can't find a date anywhere. The one page I did find looked like it hadn't been touched since last December, and I couldn't tell if that means it's off or just that nobody updates anything.
I'm over on the Lake Fayetteville side, so it's not far, but I'd like to know before I plan around it. Deer season is about to eat a bunch of my weekends and I'm trying to figure out what's actually on the calendar between now and Christmas. I know the Square does its thing with the lights, but the Elkins one feels more like the old-fashioned kind where everybody knows the person on the float.
Also, if anyone knows who's running it this year, I'd like to ask about signing up. A few of us have talked about doing something for the parade through work. I'm always saying we should do more with local businesses and the folks who actually work and hire around here. A parade seems like an easy way to get your name out there without a big ad budget.
So does anyone know a date, or whether it got canceled? Even a "my cousin heard it's the first Saturday of December" would help at this point.
