View from Greenland this morning (near West Fork)

Had to run south on 71 early this morning and ended up pulling over just past Greenland, close to West Fork. Fog was sitting down in all the low spots, the ridges are already going orange and yellow, and the sun was just coming up behind it. My phone photo doesn't come close to doing it justice.

I've only lived here about two weeks, so I'm still doing the "wow, this is where I live now" thing every time I leave town. Is it always like this in late October, or did I just catch a good morning?

Two questions for the locals. Where else around here is worth a drive for fall color before the leaves drop? And is there a good coffee or BBQ stop along that stretch of 71? I smoke a brisket at home most weekends, so I'm always scouting for places to compare against. Small roadside spots are fine, I'd actually prefer those.

Welcome! Fog like that usually follows a cold clear night. I used to chase yard sales out toward WEst Fork every October.

Hope this helps

Thanks Brenda! Good to know. Any place out that way you'd stop for lunch after yard saling?

This morning, a little after 7. Do you drive 71 much, Rachel?

Brenda's right, cold clear nights make the best fog 🌫️🍂 Devil's Den is just down from West Fork too, great for color... 😍🧡
