Hoping someone here has a name for me. My husband's family has a little cabin a few miles from Devil's Den State Park, off 170 on the winding side before you get into West Fork. We live over by Lake Fayetteville full time, so the cabin is basically our deer camp and a weekend place. Went out last Saturday to get it ready for the season and found the water heater leaking onto the floor. There's also a damp spot under the kitchen where I think one of the lines has been weeping for a while. I shut the water off at the pressure tank and left it. It's a well, so I'm not sure if that changes who we should call.
The problem is that most of the outfits I've called in town either don't go that far out or want a big trip charge, and one just never called back. I'm fine paying for the drive, it's a good 35 to 40 minutes from town and the last stretch is rough. I just don't want to be the lowest priority on somebody's schedule because we're out in the sticks. Gun season opener is coming up in a couple weeks and the whole family will be there, so I'd like this handled before then. We also have the first hard freeze coming, so I don't want those pipes sitting there either.
Ideally someone who:
- is comfortable with well and pressure tank setups, not just city water
- will actually give a rough price before showing up
- isn't a giant Springdale company sending whoever's closest
I try to hire small and local when I can. The money stays in the area, and honestly the guys who live out that way are usually the ones who know what they're looking at with old cabin plumbing. If you know somebody in West Fork, Winslow or Lincoln who does side work or runs a small shop, I'd happily call them. Thanks in advance. I'll report back on who we end up using so the next person has a name.
